About Us

The Regional Branch of the Indian Institute of Public Administration, Odisha was learnt to have been started sometime during the year 1955 at Cuttack. But it was functioning at irregular intervals. Subsequently, it was shifted to Bhubaneswar, the capital city of Odisha and again became dysfunctional after the last presidentship of B. Shivarman I.C.S. for the period 1960-62, while he was the Member Board of Revenue and thereafter Chief Secretary of Odisha. Again, the functioning of the branch was debilitated for a long period till July 1988 when the then Chief Secretary of Odisha, late Nalini Kanta Panda (I.A.S.) took steps to revive it.

Shri N. K.Panda convened a meeting for revival of the Odisha Regional Branch  in the conference Hall of the Secretariat where Mr. Kalyan Ray I.A.S., Amulya R. Nanda I.A.S., R.N. Senapati I.A.S., Prof Subash Chandra Mishra, Prof. Jugal Kishore Mishra and Prof. P.K. Mishra and Secretary of different Departments of the Government of Odisha were Present. Based on the decisions taken in the meeting, the Regional Branch was reactivated and made functional during the year 1989. Since then, the Regional Branch I.I.P.A. Odisha has been functioning uninterruptedly in Bhubaneswar. Subsequently with perceptive vision, able Leadership, keen interest and guidance of succeeding chairpersons, the Regional Branch became one the most active branches of the country. This branch is primarily located and has been functioning in a spacious government  Quarter allotted by the Government of Odisha. This branch pursues academic activities and conducts different programmes like seminars, webinars, workshops, lectures by visiting dignitaries throughout the year and research work on socio-economic, political and administrative problems. The Odisha Regional Branch also publishes books of relevance.

Every year the Branch publishes “Prashasan” containing the deliberations in seminars/webinars and a thematic Journal. All are edited by our eminent members of academic pursuit. All articles featured in the journal are research-oriented and act as references to scholars, students, academics, administrators, and other professionals. To make our presence  felt in different intellectual spheres we have made our activities broad-based conducting seminars and workshops in Coordination with other institutions such as State Police Academy, State Human Rights Commission, Fakir  Mohan University, Balasore, North Odisha University, Baripada, Police Training College, Angul, Gopabandhu Academy of Administration, Schools of prominence, Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Dhenkanal, Deptt of Public Administration, Utkal University, Vani Vihar, Bhubaneswar etc. We have a well-maintained Library having more than 2000 books of importance and relevance. We also conduct essay and debate competitions among University and College students annually and give them prizes, certificates and cash awards. We also hold Research Studies and Training Programmes.

Membership

  1. The fee for Life membership is Rs.10000/- plus GST@18% (Total Rs.11800/-).
  2. The fee for Corporate Membership is Rs.50,000/- plus GST@18% (Total Rs.59000/-). .

The Executive Council of IIPA chaired by the Hon’ble Union Minister of State, DoPT & Chairman, is the Competent Authority to grant various types of membership of IIPA. A Screening Committee is constituted for scrutinizing the application forms for membership as per the criteria laid down in the Memorandum of Association and Rules of IIPA amended from time to time and recommending the names to the Executive Council for final approval of the membership.
